Heceta Head Lighthouse

January 29th, 2016

Photography Prints

Heceta Head Lighthouse was constructed in 1892 - 1893 and opened in August of 1893. The lighthouse itself is 56 feet tall and the light is the strongest on the Oregon coast. The lighthouse was placed on the national registry of historic places in 1978. The light keepers residences were used until 1963 when the light was automated.

Mount Hood Power

October 18th, 2015

Sell Art Online
The moon rises over metal transmission towers carrying electricity as the last rays of sunset light up Mount Hood. The huge metal towers carry power from Bonneville Dam on the Columbia River to Portland and other parts of Oregon. The combination of moon light and sunset makes this an interesting and challenging photograph.

Sunrise on rocky headland of the Pacific Coast

August 15th, 2015

Art Prints
A beautiful beginning to a wonderful day. January on the North Pacific Coast can be almost anything but I had a great day with good weather and started it off with this sunrise shot. I was reminded of colorful gelatin molds with the stack of different colors and textures. Dark purple on top, then an orange glow from the sun shining through a gap in the clouds, then a band of fog over the ocean and then a strip of white breakers with surf in the foreground. These views last only seconds and I was fortunate enough be there.

Corn Hanging in the Barn

August 2nd, 2015

Art Prints
Ears of decorative corn hanging in a barn to dry. The late day light shining through the dusty window gives this a sad, vintage feel. I came across this scene on a farm in Hood River, Oregon and was immediately struck by the contrasting colors of the Indian corn and the light coming through the old dusty windows.

Mt Hood From Bald Mountain

August 2nd, 2015

Sell Art Online
Mt. Hood viewed from the Pacific Crest Trail on Bald Mountain. Bald Mountain provides a fantastic view of Mount Hood and the Sandy Glacier. In early summer it is also a great wildflower viewing location. The hike is not particularly long though parts can be very steep. The view is amazing but if you don't like heights it may not be for you. The trail is very narrow and in places you look down for a very long way with the edge only inches from the trail.

Mount Hood Sunset

August 2nd, 2015

Photography Prints
Magnificent snow covered Mount Hood with the day's last rays of light turning the snow purple and the trees an eerie red gold. The once bright sky slowly fades to a dark blue with a few stars making an appearance. Such sights last only moments, sometimes seconds but they show the wonder of the mountain in a different way every night.

Calla Lily Blooms

July 10th, 2015

Photography Prints

Calla lily flowers in full bloom on display at the farmers market. Lovely colors attracted my eye to these unusual flowers. Bundles of them were displayed at the farmer's market for sale and I got this wonderful bright image from one display.

End of the Day at Moulton Barn

July 4th, 2015

Photography Prints
A wonderful end of the day while visiting Grand Teton National Park. I was scouting the area for future sunrise pictures but was treated to this inspiring view as the sun went down behind the mountains. The barn is all that is left of the homestead of T. A. Moulton who farmed there in the early 1900's. It is now part of the national park and by some accounts is the most photographed barn in America.

Horses Grazing at Mt. Jefferson

June 28th, 2015

Photography Prints

A herd of horses in a meadow with dawn painting the sky over Mt. Jefferson. An artistic rendering of this scene. I was fortunate enough to be at the location at dawn and capture the dramatic sky over Mt. Jefferson. The horses did not care.

Orange Sunflower Blossom

June 27th, 2015

Photography Prints
A bright orange sunflower blossom with dark seeded center. A rather unique color for sunflowers I just had to capture it. The light was great and the detail in the flower petals came out perfectly.
